Volunteers working as the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail in Grafton County developed 23 miles of track into four-season trail use starting in 1996.

The trail is open to hiking, snowmobiling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and bicycling, but motorized wheeled vehicles are prohibited. You can view a video of volunteers working on this bridge at Google video by clicking on the links to the left.

A friends group organized in Merrimack County in 2005 offers the vision of an additional 35 miles of improved trail extending east and south from Danbury to Boscawen. Click on the links to the left to view their progress. The long term goal is a 65 mile-long trail from Concord to Vermont.

It is that time of year again.

Remember, your track today becomes tomorrow's erosion.

It is June. The Rail Trail is hard and smooth. The weather is fine. Ride like the wind!
